The Ministry of Industry supports the participation of eight startups from the CEIN ecosystem in the Transfiere European forum
Focused on science, technology, and innovation, the event is currently taking place in Málaga
A delegation from Navarre, comprising representatives from the regional government, the public entity CEIN, the IRIS Navarra Innovation Hub, ADItech, and eight startups, is participating in theTransfiere forum, which is being held in Málaga from March 12 to 14. It is considered the most important forum in Europe dedicated to science, technology, and innovation, and expects more than 400 experts and 4,500 visitors to attend over its three-day duration.
The delegation from Navarre is led by Garbiñe Basterra, Director General of Energy, Business R&D&I, and Entrepreneurship; and Agurtzane Martínez, Director General of Science, Technology, and Innovation; who were accompanied by Uxue Itoiz, Managing Director of CEIN; Ion Arrizabalaga, Coordinator of the IRIS Navarra Cluster; and Diego Garrido, Director General of ADItech. Also present are the Navarran startups Bi-Blade, Bioinsectics, Fruit & Food Products, FuVeX, InBiot, MicroNeox, Nucaps, and Yenxa.
Basterra highlighted the role the government plays in supporting and fostering entrepreneurship in Navarre. “Events like this greatly facilitate the development of our startups and their innovative progress within the business ecosystem. In 2025, the Department of Industry has allocated more than 28 million euros to R&D and innovation projects through four calls for grants. Our goal is to promote high-impact projects that are aligned with the sectors identified in Navarre’s Smart Specialization Strategy (S4).”
For her part, Martínez noted that “strengthening relationships between knowledge generators and the business sector is key to maximizing the value of research projects and ensuring their impact on society.” In this vein, she emphasized the importance of Navarre’s participation in forums such as Transfiere, through various startups and stakeholders in the Navarre R&D&I System (SINAI). In addition, the director general highlighted the challenge of promoting knowledge transfer to industry. In this regard, she stated that “work is already underway on a new Science, Technology, and Innovation Plan, which will take effect in 2026 and will emphasize the creation of an appropriate framework to foster this connection.”
Transfiere will provide participants with a space to meet and exchange knowledge on topics such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, Industry 5.0, entrepreneurship, investment, and financing, among many others. The purpose of this fair is to bridge the gap between science and business, enhance competitiveness, and create opportunities for business and networking.
At this event, the Regional Government of Navarre is participating in the Tech FabLab project’s booth, which is dedicated to creating digital entrepreneurship networks. It shares the booth with organizations and startups from La Rioja, Aragon, Cantabria, Catalonia, and Valencia—regions that are project partners alongside the Government of Navarre through the Department of Industry and the Department of Ecological Transition and Digital Business. Tech FabLab is funded by Next Generation funds through the Territorial Networks of Technological Specialization (RETECH) initiative of the Spanish Government’s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
