Nanogrow: Targeted biological treatments using nanoantibodies
This biotechnology startup has recently joined the CIEN Innovation Incubator
Lucia Vanrell and Nicolás Galmarini, both from Uruguay, make up the founding team of Nanogrow Biotech, a biotechnology firm that has already been joined by three expert advisors and six industry professionals and has recently set up shop at the Innovation Incubator.
This startup is developing a new generation of biologic drugs based on nanoantibodies—for both animals and humans—which it delivers via innovative, targeted routes of administration, such as creams or inhalers. As Vandrell explains, their therapies prevent “biologics from circulating throughout the bloodstream. Instead, they are targeted specifically to the area or organ where they’re needed.”
According to the co-founder, the Innovation Incubator seemed like “the ideal place for us to incubate as a company. We know from our previous experience in Uruguay that being part of a thriving ecosystem is vital for the development of a startup.”
