Challenge 4. “Home Barista Copilot: Development of a smart assistant for a mobile app that generates personalized recommendations to improve the user experience and coffee quality in home coffee machines”
Azkoyen is developing a mobile app for its Bluetooth-connected home coffee machines, which allows users to manage various features such as device settings, recipe selection, brewing, and machine maintenance.
In this context, the company sees an opportunity to take a significant step forward in its value proposition by incorporating advanced features that guide users in operating the machine and actively improve the final cup quality.
Currently, although users have the tools to operate the machine, they do not always receive clear or personalized guidance on how to optimize extraction or adjust settings based on their preferences, habits, or usage conditions. This limits the potential of the experience and the perceived value of the product.
The challenge is to design and validate an intelligent assistant powered by artificial intelligence (including generative AI) that can analyze available information (Bluetooth data and usage history) and generate useful, clear, and actionable recommendations for the user.
These recommendations may focus on aspects such as adjusting settings, improving usage habits, or providing guidelines for achieving better results, always with a practical and easy-to-understand approach.
In addition, the development of the solution must take into account key aspects such as user privacy, avoiding mandatory reliance on cloud-based solutions, and ensuring the responsible use of data.
The goal is to move toward a smarter, more personalized, and unique experience, in which the machine not only performs tasks but also supports and guides the user.
Expected benefits
Implementing a solution in this area would enable Azkoyen to make an impact across several key aspects of the business:
Improved user experience: a more guided, personalized, and results-oriented interaction that makes the machine easier to use and improves the final cup
Increased customer satisfaction: a greater sense of value thanks to a smarter experience tailored to each user
Product differentiation: the addition of advanced AI-based features that set the solution apart within the home segment
User retention: building a more ongoing relationship with the product, based on recommendations and continuous improvement of the user experience
Foundation for future developments: creation of an intelligence layer that enables the continued development of new features and related services
Privacy and data control: developing solutions that do not necessarily require sending information to the cloud, in line with privacy trends
What are you looking for in a partner?
Azkoyen is looking for professionals capable of designing and developing data-driven solutions for digital products, with a practical approach focused on the user experience.
The following will be given special consideration:
Experience in AI applied to digital products: development of recommendation systems, smart assistants, and solutions based on generative AI.
Mobile development capabilities: building integrated solutions for mobile apps, taking into account real-world constraints (BLE, data availability, system states).
Designing actionable recommendations: the ability to translate data into clear, useful suggestions that users can easily implement.
Focus on user experience: designing interactions that deliver real value, while avoiding unnecessary complexity or generic recommendations.
User validation capabilities: an iterative approach based on testing, learning, and continuous improvement
Privacy and architecture awareness: criteria for designing solutions that balance personalization, performance, and responsible data management.
It’s not just about incorporating artificial intelligence; it’s about creating an experience that provides real value to the user, helping them continuously improve their interaction with the machine and the final result through useful, understandable recommendations tailored to their context.
