The public entity European Business and Innovation Center of Navarra (CEIN) has been selected as one of Europe’s top entrepreneurship centers by the Financial Times. This is the first time CEIN has appeared in this ranking, compiled by one of the world’s most prestigious financial newspapers, and it ranks 109th out of 180 selected organizations.

In the words of its managing director, Uxue Itoiz, “this recognition highlights the work carried out by CEIN, where we have a survival rate of over 80% for companies that go through our incubators.” Since its inception, CEIN has advised nearly 21,500 projects and helped create 3,800 companies. Many of these are in sectors strategic to Navarre, such as biotechnology, agrofoodtech, and the digital sector. Last year alone, 414 projects received advice from this public entity, which operates under the Department of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition of the Government of Navarre. Of those projects, 90 went on to become established companies.

In addition, Itoiz also sought to highlight the value of the Navarran business ecosystem, noting that “we are the European region with the highest percentage of established startups—defined as those that have been in operation for more than three and a half years. Specifically, this rate stands at 8%, above the national average of 6.8%.”

There are 45 companies based in CEIN’s business incubators, with locations in Noáin and the Tudela Agri-Food Park. “We have 90% occupancy in our facilities,” noted Itoiz, who also announced that “this year we plan to increase the number of companies housed here thanks to the arrival of Hirugarrena, a new space for entrepreneurship that will focus on the technology sector and knowledge transfer from the university.”
