La Infantil Shoes: A Century-Old Tradition and New Steps Toward Sustainable Footwear
Sara Cale, one of the partners at La Infantil, participated in the Iruña Ekintzaile | Pamplona Emprende program to give new momentum to this iconic
Founded in 1902, Calzados La Infantil has been a staple in Pamplona for over a century. Today, Sara and her team have taken over the reins with an innovative vision: to transform a traditional shoe store into a space specializing in barefoot or foot-friendly footwear for children and adults alike.
The idea for this venture stemmed from a personal experience: the search for the right shoes for her young daughters. The difficulty of finding suitable styles in traditional stores—or the need to shop online—led Sara to create a place where customers could see, touch, and try on the products in person. The result is a store that guides each customer through the transition to a more natural gait, promoting health starting from the feet.
“We want to support those who decide to take this step. Just as the brands themselves recommend transitioning to barefoot running, we offer that personalized support to improve your running form and look after your health,” explains Sara.
The Iruña Ekintzaile | Pamplona Emprende program has been instrumental in this journey. The program, launched by the City of Pamplona and CEIN, has allowed them to look beyond the product and delve into essential aspects of business: from day-to-day management to digital marketing. “Beyond the technical support, it’s been an opportunity to take a closer look at our project. I’d do it again every two years,” he says.
Today, La Infantil remains true to its century-old history, but with a fresh new look and a value proposition that combines tradition and health.
