The Government of Navarre and CEIN are participating in the 10RNAEN events, where the Navarran startups Popcorn Therapeutics and Opportunity Health have been awarded prizes
The "New Aquitaine – CAV – Navarre Biohealth Meetings" aim to strengthen collaboration within the Euroregion's healthcare ecosystem
Mikel Irujo, the Regional Minister of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition, participated in the 10th edition of the “New Aquitaine – CAV – Navarra' conference, 10RNAEN, held yesterday and today in Bilbao, which also featured the public entities European Business and Innovation Center of Navarra (CEIN) and the Navarra Development Corporation (SODENA), as well as eight startups from Navarra.
As part of these events, which this year coincide with the tenth anniversary of Navarre’s accession to the Euroregion, the 2026 Euroregional Biohealth Awards were presented. The awards feature two categories, in which two companies from Navarre were recognized. In the biopharma category, the winner was Popcorn Therapeutics, while Opportunity Health the award in the medical device category.
In addition to these two startups, Navarra was also represented by six other companies. In the biopharma category, the participating companies were Amets Biotechnology, Genbioma, Mimo Biosciences, Nanogrow Biotech, and Recombina. The startup Darwin Biomed also participated in the medical device category.
Councilor Irujo highlighted the importance of Navarre’s biohealth sector, “which is home to leading companies, such as this year’s award winner, and all those that have gathered at these events to continue making progress through interregional cooperation. And it is a sector on which we are placing special focus through the CEIN HEALTH program, through which we help foster, accelerate, and scale innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives in the health sector—initiatives we have been supporting financially for the past 30 years through Sodena.”
The 10RNAEN event brought together more than 100 people and 71 organizations—including startups, companies, entrepreneurs, researchers, investment firms, and health innovation stakeholders from New Aquitaine, the Basque Country, and Navarre—with the aim of fostering cross-border partnerships, sharing knowledge, and developing collaborative projects to strengthen the sector.
Over the course of two days, participants had the opportunity to take part in personalized B2B meetings to explore collaboration opportunities, visit the companies Histocell and Biolan, attend conferences on industry trends, and network with key figures in the sector from the Euroregion.
The event was jointly organized by the Basque Health (BHC), Health Navarra Health (NHC), Alliance Innovation Santé Nouvelle-Aquitaine (ALLIS-NA), and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Euskadi, Navarra Euroregion.
