The Minister of Digital Transformation Visits CEIN and Two of Our Startups to Learn About Their Work in Artificial Intelligence
Nanogrow and Uraphex are two of the companies that have received grants through the RedIA call for proposals.
Óscar López, Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, visited the European Business and Innovation Center of Navarra (CEIN) and two of our startups located in the innovation incubators. Specifically, López toured the facilities of Nanogrow Biotech and Uraphex, which received grants through the RedIA call for proposals.
In addition, the Navarre-based company Kunak, which was also based at the CEIN incubators, is one of the companies benefiting from this program. RedIA is an initiative of Red.es, an entity attached to the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Public Administration, that funds projects ranging from clinical, biomedical, and pharmacological research to those related to emergency response.
During the visit, López was able to see firsthand the work these two startups are doing and tour their facilities. The minister also learned about the key role CEIN plays as an organization that promotes entrepreneurship in Navarre.
Also participating in the visit were the Spanish Government Delegate in Navarre, Alicia Echeverría; the Regional Minister for Universities, Innovation, and Digital Transformation, Juan Luis García; the Director General of Ecological and Digital Transformation, Business R&D&I, and Entrepreneurship, Garbiñe Basterra; the Managing Director of CEIN, Uxue Itoiz; and other representatives of Navarre’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
About Startups
Nanogrow, a company founded in 2021 in Uruguay and operating in Pamplona (Navarra) since 2024, is developing a platform of nanoantibodies derived from the immune systems of various camelids (llamas, camels, alpacas), which are capable of binding with high precision to viruses, bacteria, and tumor cells. By combining this platform with AI tools and computational analysis, its researchers are able to accelerate the identification and development of new treatments that are more effective, safer, and personalized.
During his visit to Uraphex, the minister also had the opportunity to see firsthand the company’s innovative chemical-free water recycling system, which allows for the reuse of more than 90% of that water in industrial processes. In 2024, this company was recognized as the startup with the greatest social and/or environmental impact in Navarre.
